Ed Sheeran finished his successful concerts in Dublin, on Friday and Saturday night, by enjoying some of the acts that Croke Park was actually built for.
Sheeran kicked a 45 straight over the bar from beneath the Hogan Stand. Shooting into the Hill 16 end, Ed’s free would have been worthy of Sheehan or Cluxton. Ed’s only comment on the 45 was that he could not really understand all the fuss with kicking off the ground.
Sheeran also got to enjoy one of the special customs of Croke Park by marching around the empty stadium let by The Artane Boys Band who recited a beautiful unique version of Thinking Out Loud.
Ed also enjoyed a puck around with the 25 times All Ireland winner Henry Sheeflin. Croke Park officials said the greatest difficult was to persuaded Ed that the hurl was a genuine sport aid and not a weapon.
Ed’s tour was ended with lifting the Sam Maguire to the joy of a small group of stewards and a handful of fans. Ed thanked his management team and said all efforts will be made to retain the cup next year.
