A move that best demonstrates the uncertainty now surrounding the peace process in Northern Ireland Gerry Adams has reportedly asked for his balaclavas to be dry cleaned.
The move shows that circumstances are deteriorating and Gerry obviously now feels he may need his old masks again. It is believed that that the balaclavas have not been used since the early 90’s so it is understandable that he needs them cleaned.
There is a small dry cleaners, Tiocfaidh Whites and Greens, just off the Falls Road which specialises in cleaning balaclavas. Locals often talk of the good deals they offered on cleaning balaclavas and other combat related gear. The business has seen its trade decline over the years of the peace process but with the possible return of fighting would be very good news for the dry cleaners. Every cloud has a sliver lining one might say.
