A twenty minute video of Countess Markievicz fighting during Easter week 1916 has been converted into colour and made public.
A video of this calibre is a welcome addition even during a time when a huge supply of media is being provided regarding 1916.
The video which was pretty much unheard of until now was believed to be shot by a volunteer in the Irish Citizen Army who was close to the Countess. The video shows Markievicz actually fighting British troops and RIC men in what is thought to be Stephen’s Green in the early part of Easter week.
A must watch for anybody with even a remote interest in Irish history.
