As 1916 commemorations get under way across the country comments by Boris Johnson are sure to raise some tensions.
We caught up with the outspoken Mayor of London for a quick interview who said,
“I’m not entirely sure why the Paddys…..sorry the Irish are celebrating the event with such proud memories. People must remember that we actually won, quite easily in fact and you don’t see us carrying on celebrating. What would you be guys be doing if you had actually won ? All that aside though we are very proud of our victory at Easter week. To look at it in a sporting term the rising was like Ireland getting an early goal when England were still in the dressing rooms. But when our guys got going and strung some passes together we hit five without reply. You guys were beat from a long way out.”
As the interview is drawing to a close Boris gets his helmet but it seems that he cannot resist but have won one jibe.
“I look at the rising victory as as good as any Six Nation victory. Do you remember 2003 ?”
The flamboyant mayor cycled on chuckling gently to himself.
